MOTHER AND SON TRIP: DESTIN FLORIDIA…

^Liam didn’t like the feeling of sand between his toes at all, lol

^It took him 5 days to get use to the sand, lol.

Last week, I made a last minute decision to take a break from reality and take a mother and son trip to Destin, Floridia. My aunt had planned this trip with her family and friends at the beginning of summer, but I had no intentions of going. I actually decided after they already left and then booked a hotel room near my aunts beach house. I drove super early that next morning so that Liam would be asleep majority of the car ride. We had recently went on Liam’s birthday trip last month and it was incredibly fun, but I wanted to getaway to a place that was much more calming and relaxing. That’s also why I don’t have as many pictures, I wanted to take a little break from work and just spend some quality time with my son.
Destin, by far, has the most beautiful beaches that I have ever seen! Not only are the beaches clean and blue, the areas around the town are updated and friendly. There were tons of parks, play areas (arcade, go kart, mini golf, ect..), restaurants, shopping centers, an outlet mall, and even a Whole Foods! Everything was less than 6 miles of our place too! We went to the beach when we got there and Liam did not like the sand…he was confused and terrified, lol. I kept trying to see if he would get use to it but he never did. Putting his toes in the wet sand was even worse because he would yell when his feet started to sink. I felt bad for him but I was also laughing inside, his reactions were priceless, lol. We stayed in at my aunts beach house majority of the time to relax, Liam also loved playing with all of the other children that were there. This boy really loves being around people, especially babies and toddlers. There was this sweet little boy that was about 9 and Liam loved playing with him. They would throw the basketball back to each other all day and follow each other around the house. It was really relaxing to be able to be vacation and stay in with family and friends and just eat and watch movies all day long. During the 5 nights that we were there, it rained EVERY.SINGLE.DAY! It was annoying but it kinda worked in our favor since we were indoors 90% of the time. We went on a lot of night outings with 8 other kids that were there. During those 5 days, we went to the movies, the outlet mall, a local arcade, ate at local ice-cream shops, saw alligators and went to The Track. The Track is the perfect place for people of all ages. They have go kart tracks for adults, an arcade and mini golf course for kids, and they have an amusement park specifically for babies and toddlers. Liam rode 4 rides and LOVED it, he even rode two by himself! To be honest, beaches aren’t really my thing. I’d rather be running around a new place and eating at all the local restaurants than have the sand between my toes and salt in my hair, lol. I mean, I love going to the beach every once in a while (like once a year, lol), so it was nice to be able to experience that with Liam before we moved back to Colorado.
If you plan on visiting Destin anytime and needed more insight, feel free to email me or leave a comment below. Everything is extremely close to each other so I didn’t feel the need to write out an entire travel guide. If you don’t know where to stay, I would highly suggest renting a beach house near/on the beach. There are tons of companies that rent them out and you really get to soak everything in by staying in a beach house. Do yall have any favorite beaches that yall would recommend?
Thank you so much for reading!

Annie
