THE STRONGEST WOMAN I KNOW, MY MOTHER…

For me, I didn’t truly understand the meaning of a “Mother’s love” until I became one myself. A mother’s love is infinite. As Liam grew older and I began to get into this thing we call “parenting”, I quickly realized that my parenting methods came from my Mom.
Growing up, my mom was a very strict parent. She was and still is a  hardworking and incredibly strong woman. When I was around 13 years old, my mom became a single parent. There were four of us. I had two younger brothers and a younger sister. Looking back at all the obstacles and difficulties that she overcame, I’m not sure I could have done it myself. When I say that my mom is a willful and hardworking person, I mean it. My mom worked 12+ hours, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. She owned her own business so we were always with her. I saw someone work harder than I’ve ever seen. Not only did she do everything she possibly could to support us, she also taught all of us the importance of being educated, successful, and to be kind. Even though my mom went through these difficulties, her children never got a glimpse of how hard it was. My mom practically gave us anything we needed. There was never a day where she wasn’t able to take us out to eat, go on a trip, or buy that $100 pair of jeans that was probably too overpriced for a 13 year old. My mom raised us in a way that would take me forever to explain. I’m so thankful for everything that she did and still continues to do for her children and grandchild. I learn my parenting skills from my Mom and I know that I’m raising my children in the best possible way that I know.
My mom is a pretty simple person. For Mother’s Day, I know all she would want is for her children to be in the same room, spending time with one another. I’ve teamed up with Papyrus to share the gifts that I chose for my mom that are both sentimental and precious. If I were to collect all the photos of us together, I’d probably have less than 20 pictures. My family isn’t big on pictures so it was definitely a task going through multiple hard drives trying to find captured memories of us. When I saw this picture frame from Papyrus, I knew my mom would LOVE it! It goes perfectly on her desk and a  picture says a thousand words.
Liam and I chose a few cards to give to her this year from Papyrus’s Mother’s Day collectionThis “Mom is right about everything” card, is cute and humorous. She’s literally always right, there’s no arguing with her. The card Liam chose for his grandma also shows both of our appreciation. My mom has been there for both of us ever since she found out I was pregnant. Even though we lived in a different state for half of Liam’s life, she continued to check on us and help with whatever we needed. She even flew to Colorado for a day before!
As I mentioned before, my mom is always working. That means she’s on the go. I chose cute and useful gifts like this pink water bottle and journal for her. My mom is old fashion, she only writes! If you gave her a laptop, she wouldn’t even know how to pull up a document, lol. My mother is all about sentimental and practical gifts. I know she’ll appreciate these Mother’s Day gifts and keep them for keepsake.
“Motherhood is a choice you make everyday, to put someone else’s happiness and well-being ahead of your won, to teach the hard lessons, to do the right thing even when you’re not sure what the right thing is… and to forgive yourself, over and over again, for doing everything wrong” – Donna Ball
