Our second step into building our dream home is officially done! The design studio is probably the best part of the entire house building process. In the Design Studio we were able to choose the colors of our kitchen and bathroom, stones, hardware, windows, and so many more interior options. We had two appointments that we’re within a one week timeframe. Each appointment was 3 hours. The first appointment went over cabinet details in your entire home, flooring, and countertops. The second appointment went over hardware for the front door, kitchen, and bathroom, windows, stair railing, fireplace, bathroom shower trim, sinks, and kitchen customizations (adding more drawers, pull out cabinet, etc).
When it comes to choosing our color scheme it ended up becoming a mixture of mine and Tommy’s preferences. I love modern tones like white and black and Tommy loves the farmhouse homey feel. Our entire home is mixed up of mostly white and black with pops of natural wood and subtle pops of light blue.
A huge thanks goes to our relator Helen! She went with us to both of our appointments to help with decisions and to not go overboard with upgrades. When you’re in the Design Studio, everything looks beautiful and you want it all but it’s important to stick to your budget, if you have one. We made a list of priorities and after those upgrades, we used the left over to upgrade things like utility flooring, hardware, etc.
